An envelope for your dues was included in the November issue of Newsteps. DUES HAD TO BE PAID BY DECEMBER 31, 2017, TO MAINTAIN MEMBERSHIP, AVOID LATE FEES, AND ENSURE INCLUSION IN THE NEXT MEMBER DIRECTORY.

Dues are:
Active Individual Membership: $30 per year

Active Joint Membership: $45 per year
(two persons residing at same address)

Associate Individual Membership: $25 per year
(residing 75 miles or more from Cleveland, OH)

Associate Joint Membership: $35 per year
(two persons residing at same address 75 miles or more from Cleveland, OH)

New members -- additional one-time initiation fee of $20.00 per person.

First-year dues for new members are reduced by 50% for memberships effective on and after Sept. 1.

Renewal dues received after between January 1 and December 31 require an additional $5 late fee. Thereafter, to be reinstated a former member needs to pay the initiation fee in addition to dues.

Become A Member


Although you don't have to be a member to hike with us, there are benefits to membership. You will receive the club Newsletter and schedules, be eligible to register for our excursions and participate in events at the club facility. All members' miles hiked are tracked and mileage patches are awarded as milestones are met (100 miles, 500 miles, and each 1000 miles).

Visitors are welcome on hikes. Hikes of various difficulties are available seven days a week (usually at several times and on the east, west, and south sides of Greater Cleveland). General classifications of the hikes are leisure (usually 3-4 miles, taking approximately 2 hours), moderate (usually 5 miles, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours), and strenuous (see schedule). The type of path and ground to be covered, such as hills, etc., is usually listed in the schedule. In our club, the term hike doesn't necessarily mean a walk in the park. It could mean walking on neighborhood sidewalks, on park trails or even in a parade. For more information see the website's New Hiker Information page. A list of scheduled hikes is available here.

You must complete six hikes as a visitor, within a year's span, to become eligible for membership with The Cleveland Hiking Club. After six hikes have been reported, you will receive an invitation to join CHC in the postal mail. This invitation will include an application form and a liability release form, which must be completed and returned to the Membership Committee, along with the initiation fee and initial year’s dues.   Membership is effective the first Sunday following receipt of your completed application, liability release, dues, and initiation fees. After that you will receive a packet with information about the club rules and other helpful information. Dues for new members are stated at the left plus an additional one-time initiation fee of $20.00 per person. First-year dues for new members are reduced by 50% for memberships effective on and after Sept. 1. Your initial dues payment covers the period between your effective date and December 31 of the same year. Dues are payable annually every January thereafter.

Dues basically cover the cost of mailings. Our monthly Newsteps provides mileage records, social events and information about other club activities such as worldwide excursions.
