1. Leo Deininger, who joined CHC in 1974 is now in hospice care at home. He was always a strong hiker (over 39,000 club miles) until recent disabilities slowed him down, to which he reacted “I think I’ve exceeded my expiration date”. A recent cancer diagnosis confirmed the opinion. Notes and cards will be welcome (1965 Mornington Lane #12, Cleveland Hts, Ohio 44106, but we are restricting calls and visits because they take more energy than he has. Thank you for your support. 2. Carol Jarosz and I have been long-time members but haven’t been hiking recently so lately we have just enjoyed the social part of the club. Carol had been recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and on the suggestion of the oncologist and with careful thought chose In-Home-Hospice as opposed to radiation & chemotherapy with all its complications. Carol took her last breath on July 7th. Carol hiked over 3300 miles with the club. Her obituary is in Sunday’s Plain Dealer and at https://www.buschcares.com/obituaries/Carol-Ann-Jarosz?obId=43323601
I know many people (like me) don’t get a printed newspaper anymore, so I’d appreciate mentioning her death at the circle ups. Thank you, Fred Jarosz ohiozona@yahoo.com
3. The August hike schedules have been posted on the Hiking With Us page. Newsteps, our club’s monthly newsletter, is scheduled to be published on our member’s only section by the 16th.
