1.The Cuyahoga Valley National Park will be closing the Lock 29 parking lot and river access in Peninsula from June 24 to December 1 while the contractors complete riverbank stabilization work. Parking will be available at other nearby locations. The Lock 29 Overflow parking lot will remain open during this time. Visitors will still have access to the Towpath Trail and amenities in the Village of Peninsula. .

The park continuing a riverbank stabilization project to protect the tracks for Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.  The Towpath Trail closure south of Station Road is still in effect on weekdays as part of this ongoing work. The Towpath north of Station Road is closed 24/7 through June 28 for resurfacing and restoring the trail surface following the completion of the riverbank work at that location.

The closures are necessary for public safety while contractors use heavy equipment to complete the work.

2. August Hike Leading Sign-up Still open

The sign-up period to lead hikes for August of 2024 is open until the deadline on Tuesday, June 25th at midnight.  Please log in to the CHC website at:  https://clevelandhikingclub.org/hike-scheduling/ and add some hikes.   

Once you are done entering your hikes, remember to run the “Schedule of Activities by Leader” and check to make sure all of your information entered is correct.  You can find this on the same page where you scheduled your hikes.  We appreciate your help in verifying your information and notifying us as quickly as possible if there are any issues.
