The Conservancy for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park has been  working on converting the former Brandywine Golf course into Oxbow Meadows.  From acquisition of the land, to environmental cleanup and early meadow restoration, to community engagement and visioning, and now into schematic design, including landscape and architectural planning for visitor amenities and a future community River Center.

Members of the Conservancy will be leading a series of small group hikes at Oxbow Meadows to share project updates and help you envision the future for this ‘park within a park’. These guided walks will follow mowed trails on the former Par 3 course on the west side of Akron‑Peninsula Road.

This is being shared with the Cleveland Hiking Club so that members/leaders may see potential CHC hikes in the future.  There are no CHC miles associated with these hikes.  They are simply informational.

The dates for the hikes are:

  • Friday, July 17th, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday, August 1st, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Please RSVP directly to Jessica Livers at JLivers@forcvnp.org or call/text 330‑777‑0222. A reminder email will be sent prior to your selected hike.

Parking: 5555 Akron‑Peninsula Road

  • From the north (Route 303): parking will be on your right.
  • From the south: pass Truxell Road and the former golf course’s main parking lot; parking will be on your left as you go up the hill.
